MiniArt – Soviet Sharotank 1:35 – Fallout Version

Here is another Fallout-inspired model I’m working on. This is a “What-if?” kit inspired by plans that were found. This was never produced as far as anyone knows, but it makes for a great little vehicle for a Fallout scene.

I got the version that has the wheels on the sides. There is one that has skis for winter operations. That was built by Colin at Festa67’s Workshop. He made a lovely little diorama for his. I recommend looking at his back catalog of videos. He has a Bandai AT-AT that has been redone as a construction vehicle that’s just beautiful.

What I plan to do with this is another Fallout style diorama. I look at this one as being an abandoned vehicle that a wastelander would see while traveling. I’m going to color it as a US Army vehicle for urban combat. I want to put skeletons inside and even some glowing fungus if I can manage how to make it.

The scale of this is a bit weird. The box says it’s 1:35, but figures of that size wouldn’t really fit. This is intended as a 5-person tank, but that’s just impractical given the space. See the review and buildup of this at The Modelling News. They show that the interior as presented is much closer to a 1:48 scale than 1:35. As I want to have the former crew inside, I needed to change something.

My solution is to remove the two upper seats and make it a two-man crew. Then I move the seats to accommodate a larger person on each side. The driver faces forward and will have a small window and viewscreens, and the gunner will face backwards using just screens to see his targets. So my task will be to add monitors to the inside and what could pass as cameras on the outer hull.

I also have to modify the engine to look more Fallout correct. Different from the Scammell Pioneer, I see this as a smaller machine that can run on the smaller fusion cells rather than cores.
