Battle of Hoth AT-ST – 2

Once I had the electronics fitted, then it’s to the rest of the head assembly. With the plug that leads to the LED, I was able to make some parts more modular so I could plan things out and get to them easier.

Next came the chin cannons. I took a similar approach to Tagamo Modelworx in that I used fiber optics from the guns to the LED. Mine had the LED closer though. I made a box of styrene to extend back the shelf the guns are on a little and cut some brass to overlay it to prevent light coming through the plastic and paint.

Here is the cannon assembly with the fiber optics.
What’s going on here, is I layered the fiber optics in PVA glue to stick them in place. I can’t use CA glue because it turns the fiber really brittle. Once that glue dried, then I applied a layer of black Tulip craft paint. This stuff is completely opaque and makes a great light block.

Here is the bottom plate with the plug soldered on and ready to fit in place.
