Falcon Build- Cockpit Seating

I am now making new posts about this build using photos that I took at the time I was working on it, over 5 years ago now.

My next step after getting the floor situated was to arrange the cockpit interior. The consoles and seats.

I had the floor, sides and seat placement figured out as shown here.

I decided that it would make sense to give myself the ability to remove the seats for painting and if I wanted to add minis, so I used magnets for the rear seats, and styrene tubes that fit together for the front. This also gives me rotation.
Here are the washers for the rear seats, and the framing to make the floor hold strong.

Something that bothered me was the size of the seats that came with the model. One, they didn’t look like the proper seats, but also, they were just too big. I did some research, and found out that the actual front seats in the Falcon cockpit set were from a Porche. So, I got a toy Porche at 1/48. These were the right shape and size.

Here are the seats in comparison with what came with the kit.

You can see the size difference, and the new seats look so much more in scale with the rest of the cockpit.

The next issue is the rear seats. As opposed to the front, these are too small. The arm rests would be up under the armpits of Leah and 3-PO, and the overheat parts would be resting on their heads.

To correct this, I scratch-built new ones from styrene. I made three to also have the seat in the cargo hold done.

I used the front seat as a size reference, and I think they came out pretty well for a first attempt at scratch building something.
