Space Battleship Yamato: Egg

This is a build I did in 2017 for a fun little contest on the ModelMakers Boomhut Facebook Group.
The rules were simple. Get a new egg-style kit, and make it original and hopefully funny.
Here is what I built. It’s not particularly funny, but it is cute and original.
I got the egg Yamato by Fujimi to start with, and a photo etch set. Yes, they make photo etch for egg models!

I used styrene to get the shape of the bridge right, and then the fins and used a toothpaste cap for the rear engine.

The second bridge was just styrene pieced into the approximate shape. In keeping with the egg aesthetic, I made it too big for the hull.

The teeny Wave Motion Gun is just a piece of styrene fitted to keep the shape nice and neat. Then I sanded the outside so it blended with the hull.

And here she is painted up and on the stand.
