1/8 Scale Ecto-1 Intro

This is my primary large model project active at the moment. This is a monthly subscription part-work style model where I pay Eaglemoss/Hero Collector a monthly fee and they send me a box with a magazine and packs of parts. The Ecto-1 is a 141 pack project. Each month has 4 packs, so that’s almost 3 years for this to complete.
For anyone interested, here are links to where to order this:

This is technically my fourth part-work kit, but my first not provided by DeAgostini.
I have the 1/48 scale Millennium Falcon model featured elsewhere on this site. I also started their 1/3 scale R2-D2 (They claim it’s 1/2 scale, but it’s not), and the 1/144 scale Thunderbird 2. The R2 and Falcon are both missing from their site now, which is unfortunate given that I’d like to finish the R2. They’re showing as Out of Stock for Thunderbird 2 at the moment. I hope I can pick it up again and finish it. It’s a really nice kit with great modding potential.

Anyway, this is about the Ecto-1.

This model is based on the refurbished version of the car that was done in 2007 for Sony’s Ghostbusters video game.  The fantastic GBfans.com site has a photo gallery of the referb and the car when it was done. The finished version is what the model is based on, meaning there are a number of things that are not accurate to the original look of the car. These are things I want to address and modify to better match the look of the 1984 look of the car.

The 1/8 scale means that this Cadillac is ending up at over 30″ long. This beast is like a skateboard in length.
It has features like lots of metal in the frame and details like the engine. It has working shocks, steering, and even door windows that roll down. It also has full lighting and sound effects. I plan to expand on the lighting as well.
